MAPP ICU PROJECT

MAPP donated 21 ICU beds to Civil Hospital, JDC & Meomon Hospital Karachi. These are all charitable hospitals. Thank you to all members for donating for this cause.

MAPP HDF Fundraiser

On June 19th 2015, MAPP co-hosted a fundraiser with HDF; a philanthropic organization involved in charity work for uplifting less privileged communities in Pakistan. Event was held at New Brighton Community Center. Click here for pictures from this event.

Ms. Sarah Dar, daughter of Dr. Bushra Dar was master of ceremony. Proceedings started with recitation of Holy Quran. Dr. Munir Abid introduced current office holders of MAPP, gave a short history of its organization, as well as outlined past activities and vision for future. Audience was strongly encouraged to become members and plans were announced to a hold general body meeting in September 2015 followed by nominations for next President, President elect, Treasurer and General Secretary in October and elections to be held in early December. Dr. Naheed Qayyum represented HDF and updated audience about ongoing and future HDF projects in Pakistan. She gave an impassioned appeal for donations and was well received. It was followed by a stirring speech by Bilal Askari, who represented young Pakistani community of Minnesota. The event culminated with a silent auction. People donated generously and fundraiser was highly successful.

Samira Zoberi, MD

 It is with great sadness we report that our dear colleague Dr Samira Zoberi, passed away after a prolonged illness on April 8, 2014 at her home in Eagan, MN. (Surely we belong to God and to Him shall we return 2:156). She was an active member of MAPP. She was a 1985 Dow Medical College graduate and a respected primary care physician in the twin cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. Dr Zoberi's funeral was attended by a large number of grieving relatives and friends. May God make her after life easier and give her family the strength to bear this loss.

had its first CME program on Saturday July 9, 2011 at the Griffin Auditorium Medtronic Neuromodulation Building 7000 Central Ave., NE Fridley MN 55432. This program was made possible by an educational grant from Medtronics.

Dr Shehla Alavi gave account of financial status, membership fee structure i.e., yearly fees or lifetime dues.

Dr Bushra Dar gave her thoughts regarding wonderful work done by APPNA and a passionate appeal for selfless voluntarism. She expounded on possibilities for MAPP to be an active part of local community.

After opening remarks the floor was opened for general discussion. Ideas for future activities were sought. All participants were unanimous regarding above stated visions for future.
 Dr Danish Rizvi voiced a strong opinions regarding need for collaboration
with local medical institutions to help Pakistani medical graduates get greater opportunities for training. Dr Samira Zoberi volunteered to help with setting up possibilities for work with local shelters. Dr Shehla Sheikh  emphasized good citizenship. Dr Jamil Tareen helped explain the working of MAPP parent organization, APPNA. Dr Irshad Jafri shared his experience with volunteer work with charity medical clinic. It was decided to prioritize various ideas and try to make MAPP a very vibrant organization. 
It was recommended by general body that the initial tenure of first executive body will be two years.

Dr Iqbal sought volunteers to serve on board of trustees.  Dr Ali Sajjad, Dr Moeen Massod, Dr Samira Zoberi, Dr Nosheen Mazhar and Dr Danish Rizvi agreed to be on board.


Dr Munir abid closed the meeting by thanking all members for participating in general body meeting.
